Career and wellbeing coaching
You are not your job. You are a whole person.
Ever felt like your job was taking over your whole life?
Yeah, me too. I’d love to help you out.
Coaching time with me can be used for working through anything related to your career and/or wellbeing, but here are some questions that might bring you to coaching:
How do I stop my job taking over my whole life?
Who am I when I’m not at work?
How do I protect my wellbeing at work?
How do I deal with my neurotypical workplace as a neurodivergent person?
How do I get out of this career rut?
Should I be doing a different job?
What coaching with me is like
Coaching isn’t about me advising you or handing you a solution to whatever challenges you’re facing. It’s more like a collaboration.
Mostly what you’ll experience is a calm, supportive, and nonjudgemental space to talk about the things that you may be struggling to say to other people in your life, or even to yourself.
Usually what I spend coaching sessions doing is listening, reflecting on what you’re saying, asking questions, and gently prompting you to think about your work and wellbeing in different ways. Sometimes I make suggestions for topics to explore or propose a task to complete outside of our sessions.
Clients sometimes describe me as ‘holding up a mirror’: giving you new ways to see yourself and your circumstances. These new perspectives can help you figure out where and who you are now, where and who you want to be in the future, and concrete steps for how to get there.
Career coaching doesn’t require first-hand knowledge of a client’s work in order to be effective, and I work with people in all walks of life. But… I know it can sometimes be easier to talk to someone who gets it.
Career coaching doesn’t require first-hand knowledge of a client’s work in order to be effective, and I work with people in all walks of life.
I might be the coach for you if you want someone who has lived experience of:
Neurodivergence - I found out that I have ADHD in my 30s, so I know what it’s like to navigate workplaces with both diagnosed and undiagnosed ADHD.
Academia - I worked in academia for ten years as a PhD student, research assistant, teaching fellow, postdoc and lecturer. (You may also want to check out my mentoring offer if you do want the benefit of my experience working in academia.)
Career transitions - after my time in academia I became a research communicator, working at research funders for ten years, and then decided to try self-employment.
Affordable career and wellbeing coaching
I offer a sliding scale of fees
If you are on a low income, have a fixed-term employment contract, or are otherwise under financial pressure, an single coaching session with me costs £65 rather than my standard fee of £75. The sliding scale works on an honour system so I won’t ask for an explanation or proof. If you say you need it, that’s good enough for me. And if you are able to afford standard-cost sessions, you’re also making it possible for me to offer lower-cost sessions to other clients, so thank you!
I charge a monthly fee for blocks of 3 or 6 sessions rather than asking you to pay the whole cost up front
Block-booking is great for me because it helps me have a more predictable income stream (I do need to pay the bills!) so I also offer a discount of 5% for blocks of 3 and 10% for blocks of 6, for both standard-cost and lower-cost coaching. Blocks of sessions are valid for 7 months from the day you purchase them and you can spread them how you want in that time, though I recommend giving yourself at least a couple of weeks between sessions. For example, if you buy a block of 3 and use them within 6 weeks, that’s fine - your payments are still spread out over three months.
How to book lower-cost sessions
For a single coaching session, use the code SLIDING-SCALE at checkout to apply a £10 discount.
For blocks of 3 or 6 sessions, select the lower-cost sessions from the list of booking options.
